FCC catalyst for decreasing sulfur content in gasoline.

Abstract:

In order to reduce the sulfur content in FCC gasoline, catalysts with Lewis acid activated components and with higher cracking activity were prepd. The addn. of Lewis acid activated component into FCC catalyst was favorable to the sulfur redn. in gasoline. The sulfur content decreased significantly with increasing amt. of the L-acid activated component. However, when the amt. of the L-acid activated component was too high, the coke yield increased. Moreover, the sulfur content of the sample was composed mostly of thiophene and alkyl-substituted thiophenes. The desulfurization performance was different for alkylthiophenes with different alkyl chain lengths.
